Some facts about Dr. Sam Odeh



Born on the 17th day of November, 1968 at the famous Mkar town, Gboko L.G.A of Benue State , the young and energetic boy;  Sam-Ode attended NKST Primary School, Gboko where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate after which he proceeded Wesley High School Otukpo for his secondary education.
In his quest for education and self development Sam-Ode enrolled at the Benue Polytechnic Ugbokolo in 1985; same year he graduated from Wesley High School Otukpo. From Ugbokolo, he obtained his Diploma in Law in 1987. He quickly made his way to the prestigious University of Jos in 1989 where he grabbed a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts & Communications in 1993.
Talk of self development in productivity when you mention the name Sam Ode, in the year 2006, he paved his paths into the famous University of Abuja where he proudly walked away with a Masters Of Arts (Media Arts) in 2012, this he ran concurrently with his Masters in Public Administration which was completed in 2008.
It is worthy of note that the Man Hon. Sam Odeh is not just intelligent, smart and full of drive but he is known for his hard work and strength as he ran the two aforementioned educational programs with his involvement in fruitful and impactful politics from a care taker committee chairman in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue state to been the special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
That was not all with Hon. Sam Ode when it comes to his educational background/qualifications; currently he is again, a student of the University of Jos where he is studying hard for his Doctorate Degree (PhD) in International Law and Diplomacy
Hon. Sam Ode as a genius that he has always been was awarded certificate of Global Training Consulting London, UK in 2008, he was also presented with an award of Membership of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration & Management.

·        Presidential Liaison to the President of Senegal, His Excellency Alhaji Abdoulaye Wade , at the 39th  Summit of ECOWAS Heads of Government

·        Head of Delegation of the Federal Government of Nigeria to the United States (USA) – Nigeria Bi – National Commission, September 13 – 14, 2010

·        50th  Independence Anniversary Presidential Liaison to the  President of the Republic of Chad, His Excellency President Idris Derby

·        Presidential Liaison to the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency Professor George Maxwell Richards T.C, CMT, PHD.

 SPECIAL STATE GOVERNMENT ASSIGNMENTS
·        Member, Benue State Planning Commission
·        Member, Community Advisory Committee, Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi
·        Member, Rotary Club of Makurdi, Nigeria
·        Member, Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management(CAPAM)
·        Chairman, Benue State Task Force on Polio Eradication.
  Hon. Dr. Sam Odeh has been in the political scene for over two decades now but came into lime light in 2002 when he was appointed as the State Secretary to the Benue State chapter of the NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
He further served as the Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State between the years 2005-2006.
His father land could not resist his selfless, dedicated and committed services, in same year 2006, he was appointed the Care-Taker Chairman, Otukpo Local Government Area Of Benue State; an appointment most people saw as a plot by the governor to bring Sam Odeh closer to the grass root where the need for a true and sincere service is needed considering the fact that he is the only servant available, ready and eager to serve not to be served. He served in this capacity until 2007
Indeed Hon. Sam Odeh proved himself as an example to others his service as a Care-Taker Chairman, this prompt his appointment in same year 2007 as a Special Adviser and Head of Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs where he headed the Affairs other Local Government Chairmen unbehalf of the governor this appointment lasted for three years.
      AS SPECIAL ADVISER AND HEAD OF BUREAU OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND CHIEFTANCY AFFAIRS TO THE GOVERNOR OF BENUE STATE:
·         His office was a Cabinet position where Hon. Sam served as a State Executive Council member
·         Dr. Sam Odeh supervised and Coordinated the  twenty three (23) Local Government Councils, and presided over the State / Local Government  Joint Accounts;
·         The Bureau under him embarked on human capacity building  and LGA staff developments in areas of ICTs and advanced administrative skills, as part of his LGA Reform strategy;
·         As well, the Traditional institutions were enhanced in terms of welfare and peace in all the twenty three LGAs of Benue State.

Hon. Dr. Sam Ode was seen as a saviour who met the needs and aspirations of the people in the cause of delivering his services as a Special Adviser. No wonder, the governor and people of benue could not hold back their reservations to pull him out from Special Advisorship and send him on another errand at the federal level to serve as the Honourable Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs. He was the only Minister representing Benue State in the Federal Executive Council as at the time of this appointment in 2010.
     AS HONOURABLE MINISTER OF STATE MINISTRY OF NIGER DELTA AFFAIRS
Hon. Dr Sam Odeh served as the Honorable Minister of State Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs from April 2010 to May 2011 where he had seamless working relationship with the Honorable Minister, Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe, which resulted in impactful outcomes in the management of Niger Delta activities of government.
·         As Honourable Minister of State, Hon. Sam Odeh supervised  among other activities of the Ministry; the Trainings of Niger Delta Youths in various skills acquisition, both on and off- shore, and on going
·         He headed the supervision of the EAST- WEST ROAD, a flagship project of the ministry. While on the project, he had systematically set up Community Town Hall Meetings with the host communities of the EAST-WEST Road which helped to ease community/youth restiveness that slowed the paste of the construction works.
·         The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs under the watch of Sam Odeh awarded and supervised the construction of SKILLS ACQUISITION CENTRES in the nine (9) Niger Delta States, this is why we want  Dr. Sam Odeh as our Governor come 2015
